Empowering Youth with Group-Drumming Programs

DrumBus is expanding access to rhythm-based learning as a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, confidence, resilience, and well-being. Through dynamic group drumming experiences, we help schools cultivate connection, engagement, and healthy living. We welcome the opportunity to partner with your community.

Who We Serve:

  • Elementary, middle, and high schools
  • Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) schools throughout California
  • Head Start early learning programs
  • Educators, administrators, and youth development professionals

Location:

Group drumming sessions are conducted on school campuses, ensuring accessible, high-impact programming that integrates smoothly into the school day or expanded learning environment. Our mobile musical classroom is currently available exclusively in Utah. On-campus programming is offered throughout California and Utah.

Timing:

Group drumming sessions are delivered during the school day or as part of after-school and expanded learning programs.

Length:

Each program is structured as a progressive, skill-building experience, with 40-minute weekly sessions designed to reinforce rhythmic competency, strengthen connection, and build student confidence over time.

  • 4-week series
  • 6-week series
  • 8-weeks series

Curriculum:

Our programs are based on Beat the Odds®, a trauma-informed, evidence-based drumming curriculum developed by the Arts & Healing Initiative (UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative).

Led by professionally trained facilitators, each group drumming session integrates:

  • Social-emotional learning – building self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive relationships
  • Music, movement, and mindfulness – promoting focus, well-being, and engagement
  • Cognitive, collaborative, and leadership skills – fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership

Cost:

We partner with each school to develop a cost structure that aligns with available funding, including: ELOP, 21st Century, Prop 28 and other grant sources. This approach ensures our programs are both accessible and sustainable for every school community.

Wherever we drum, we help young people find their rhythm — and in rhythm, discover a lifelong power to grow.
