Find Your Rhythm

The Rhythm That Builds Us

Rhythm is woven into everyday life — in our bodies, our movements, and in the world around us. Listen for it. Feel It.

In a drum circle, rhythm becomes a hands-on experience that builds focus, creativity, confidence, and connection. Through collaborative music-making, participants are immersed in an environment where they feel energized, included, and inspired to show up as themselves.

DrumBus® Mission

We transform rhythm into a pathway for Pre-K—12th grade students to build social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills — and to lead healthy lives.

We are committed to giving every student access to rhythm-centered group drumming through expanding our school and community partnerships.

Why Drumming

Group drumming brings young people together in a safe, supportive circle. It builds bridges between all ages, cultures and abilities. And it teaches each person to love, respect and accept themselves and others.

With anxiety, depression, and trauma rising among our youth, drumming helps ease emotional stress, and encourages calm and joy. It strengthens coping skills, self-expression and self-belief. And it improves motor skills, stamina, and memory.

Perhaps one of our DrumBus® students says it best: “I was having a bad day and now I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to.”

What We Do

DrumBus® partners with schools to bring rhythm-centered group drumming to Pre-K—12th grade students — aboard the DrumBus mobile music classroom or right on campus. Led by our team of skilled facilitators, we offer 4-, 6-, or 8-week programs, with a one-hour session per week, during or after school.

Our approach is anchored in Beat the Odds® — a trauma-informed, rhythm- and evidence-based curriculum developed by Ping Ho and her team at the Arts & Healing Initiative, a member organization of the UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative.
